Voices from Sitio Sampalucan A CREDIBLE Community Engaged Linguistic Project
Clark Dominic Alipasa
This project showcases our service-learning partnership with Sitio Sampalucan, where linguistic research became a shared space for storytelling, empowerment, and community participation. Guided by the CREDIBLE framework, the initiative centers on the community’s lived experiences (Contextually Relevant), co-creates knowledge with residents (Engages Stakeholders), and integrates their cultural and linguistic practices (Draws on Local Knowledge). The diverse experiences of mothers, youth, and elders shaped both data and direction (Informed by Diverse Experiences), ensuring that outcomes directly benefit Sitio Sampalucan through literacy support, communication workshops, and youth-led outputs (Benefits Communities). The project demonstrates how ethical, collaborative linguistics can help communities reclaim their narratives while inspiring approaches that lead the evolving field of community-engaged language research.
