FLC Language for Life Award

The 2019 Language for Life Award was given to Idara Baraye Taleem-o-Taraqi (IBT), Pakistan. IBT has over the years demonstrated how language can bring benefits to the communities by drawing on Indigenous practices, including but not limited to language. IBT has created jobs in schools where members of the local communities are taking a more active role in language and education. In addition to work on its own communities, members of the IBT are actively reestablishing Indigenous relationships across the region, where most people are multilingual. FLC recognises IBT and congratulates the communities for bridging the language divide.
