That their learners are not interested in learning English is not an uncommon declaration by teachers of English. While the teachers often argue that this is caused by learners’ ignorance about the value of the language and leaders’ lack of respect for the arts subjects, in preference for the sciences, there is need to reflect on the teachers’ selection of learning content and instructional materials as well as their organisation of learning activities. In this workshop participants will be facilitated to evaluate learning activities organised around the principle of making learning active, pleasurable and memorable for how motivating they might be for three different grades of secondary school.
